UX Basecamp
UX Basecamp was a regional hub set up to drive the new Human Centred Design philosophies that would push Ford into the new era of user centred vehicles, and away from the ‘figures’ war that traditional automotive had competed over for the last decades.
There were a few themes that made this space special
- “Adaptable” – Fully configurable with projection walls, rollable furniture and workshop grade tools to cater every part of the design process
- “Scalable” – designed to support 3 vehicle programs at different program stages simultaneously
- “Switzerland” – A work politicaly-neutral collaboration space with the user in the centre. Not as secret as a design studio, not as technical as the engineering office.
- “Makerspace” – fabricating concepts right onto cars
A place to build and test ideas - “Showcase” – a place to pitch and champion new ideas to leadership
